On Thursday, January 25, 2024 Ontario Provincial Police responded to an incident in Kingsville involving a standoff that lasted more than five hours. The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit was on the scene where a person was barricaded at a Main Street address. The public were asked to avoid the area.
The standoff began around 2 p.m. and continued until shortly after 7 p.m. At that point officers entered the home. According to OPP one person was taken into custody.
All roads have since reopened. The OPP wish to thank the public for their cooperation.

Can confirm. I’m a student at KDHS and we went into a whole lockdown drill and everything. Nothing major happened, but I still saw a couple cars and vans painted pitch black roll down the road like crazy. Everyone was confused what was happening but everything went back to normal in a few minutes.
