Celebrate Point Pelee National Park’s Dark and Quiet Skies on May 20

Come out at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Steve Pellerin from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Windsor Chapter. He will be appearing in Point Pelee National Park’s Visitor Centre theatre.

Pellerin will be providing an evening presentation which will focus on the Challenges and Strategies for Observing Under a Light-Polluted Night Sky. His talk will look at light pollution issues and their effect on nature and upon our everyday lives. He’ll also touch on  the impact upon us due to astronomical activities and orbiting microsatellites and satellite constellations.

After Pellerin’s talk, feel free to explore the park. Take in the spectacular experience of the dark skies of Point Pelee. Stay late and find out what’s happening in the park after dark.

There will be no formal programs on the evening of May 20. Upon arrival at the park gate, you can pick up a seasonal star chart. The park will be open until midnight, unless otherwise specified.
