KDHS Junior and Senior Girls Victorious at WECSSAA

Emmerson Jadischke and Arissa Jitani defend while Kamora Buzek catches air in a winning move for the team

The Junior Girls team faced Kennedy for the WECSSAA championship on Friday night. Kennedy was undefeated at 10-0 in Tier 2 play but the Cavs were battle tested from playing AAA schools during the season.

The Cavs jumped out to an early lead and played one of their best games of the season.  They led 17-6 after the first quarter, 33-10 at halftime and played outstanding defence from start to finish for a 60-23 victory.

There was no doubt about who was the best AA basketball team in the city or county!

Junior Girls bring home the championship!

Zoe Toews led the team with a fantastic 19 points, 9 rebounds, 11 steals, 6 assists and 2 blocks. Mady Stanley knocked down two triples en route to 12 points and 4 steals.

Kamora Buzek nailed a triple, had 6 points and 4 rebounds.  Arissa Jitani had 6 points and 6 rebounds.  Addison Dyck had 5 points and 2 steals.

The junior girls will travel to Petrolia Thursday night to take on Lambton Central Collegiate (LCCVI) at 5:00 pm for the SWOSSA Championship.

The Senior Girls champions!

The senior girls defeated the North Star Wolves Friday night in dramatic fashion to win the WECSSAA championship.  The Cavs were up ten points midway through the first quarter but the Wolves slowly chipped away at the lead.  By the start of the fourth, the game was tied.

Thanks to some heroics from Molly Scherer and some tough defence from the Cavs, the team was victorious!

A special thank you to the incredible fans, parents and KDHS mascot Captain Cavalier who travelled to cheer the girls on and inspire them to victory!

Please come out to KDHS on Thursday at 5:00 pm to watch the Senior girls battle for the SWOSSA championship.

Fee: $5 for adults, $2 for students

Go Cavs!
