Junior and Senior Girls Basketball Teams Advance to WECSSAA Finals Today

WECSSAA playoffs in Kingsville turned out some great results for our local basketball teams.

The KDHS junior girls team hosted Herman and wasted no time jumping out to a big lead as it was 8-0 after one minute and 21-0 before Herman scored.  After that, the team got sloppy and cruised to a 56-32 win.

Zoe Toews led the team with 17 point, 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Mady Stanley had 11 points and 6 steals. Addison Dyck had 7 points and 3 steals.

Serena McMillian had one of her best games with 10 rebounds and 6 points. Emmerson Jadischke had 5 points and 3 steals. Arissa Jitani had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 points.

Kamora Buzek set the tone with her physical defence, hustle and unselfish play. She also had 2 points and 2 assists. Piper Scherer had 2 points and 2 blocks.

Meanwhile, the KDHS senior girls basketball team defeated a tough Essex squad to advance to the AA WECESSA championship being held today at Lajeunesse High School.

The team consistently improved against ‘Tier 1″ competition over the regular season despite winning only two games against the best teams in Windsor and Essex County.

The Junior Girls will face Kennedy at 2:30 pm today in the playoff final taking place at E.J. Lajeunesse High School.

The Senior Girls will battle North Star Secondary School for the AA championship at Lajeunese at 4:15 pm today.

Admission at the door is $5 for adults and $2 for students.
