Great Serving, Solid Defence Take Cavs to Quarter Finals At OFSAA

Last Wednesday the Senior Boys Volleyball team headed up the 401 & 400 to Huntsville to participate in this year’s OFSAA AA Championships.

The Cavs had a great start on Thursday in their first two matches defeating last year’s second seeded team E.L. Crosley and then Keswick both in two straight sets. The boy’s played solid in both games serving well and demonstrating great defense.

On Friday, in their toughest match against first seeded LaSalle from Sudbury, they played an outstanding match but were narrowly defeated 25-19 and 25-21.

In their second match of the day, the boys played Streetsville, and although not easy, beat them two straight placing them second in Pool A and earning a berth in the championship round quarter final versus an undefeated Beatrice Desloges from Ottawa.

The Cavs continued to play outstanding and took the undefeated Beatrice to the fifth set, but unfortunately just couldn’t seal the deal, and lost 15-11.

Our athletes can be very, very proud of themselves, finishing in the top eight teams in all of Ontario. That is an amazing accomplishment and our whole school shares in their success and excitement.

Mr. Ruggirello and Mr. Fetter would like to thank the team for an absolutely amazing season. They would also like to thank Erika St. Pierre and Avery Hrutka for scorekeeping, and all the fans for supporting the boys throughout the season!

Way to go Cavs!!
