Spotlight On Business: ‘Local Provisions’ Offers Locally Curated Gift Boxes

Local Provisions was established in October, 2020 by sisters Rachel Vollmer and Lauren Vollmer. They spoke recently to the Kingsville Times and gave us all the details of their local business which serves Windsor and Essex County.

Kingsville Times:
What was your motivation for starting a business?

Local Provisions:
We’re two sisters born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. We come from a long line of small family business owners. We’re using our entrepreneurial spirit to support local businesses and makers in the Windsor and Essex County area this holiday season.

With the devastating effects of COVID-19, we want to encourage folks to shop small this year and support the Windsor-Essex County community. We created Local Provisions, a curated gift box, to showcase the many talented small businesses YQG has to offer! We’re featuring 18 local businesses in our eight different gift boxes.

KT:
Who are your target clients?

LP:
Our target demo is anyone looking to shop local and support small businesses this Holiday Season. We have a variety of boxes to suit everyone on your Holiday shopping list! We’d also love to work with businesses looking for employee gifts. We can create custom boxes based on budget.

KT:
How would you describe your services and products?

LP:
Local Provisions provides a one-stop shop for holiday gift buying. We locally curate each gift box to include a variety of small businesses across the Windsor-Essex County area. We have over eight different types of gift boxes to choose available on our online shop.

Each one of our gift boxes includes a memory box which holds 1,000 photos, HST, complimentary gift wrapping, and free local delivery during our holiday delivery window of December 11 – 23. As an add-on we can personalize the memory box with the recipient’s name to make them feel extra special.

We want to limit our environmental impact as much as possible and utilize multi-use packaging. We encourage folks to be kind to the earth and consider repurposing the gift box for precious memories.

KT:
What is your business motto?

LP:
“Shop small, shop Local Provisions!”

KT:
What do your clients say about your business?

LP:
We have received an overwhelmingly positive response from small businesses and customers who appreciate the easy and accessible way to shop small this holiday season. The support we’ve received from our vendors have been a true driving force in getting us to a successful launch this past October.

KT:
What are your plans for business growth?  New services and/or products that clients can look out for?

LP:
We are in the process of finalizing our two eco-friendly “Conscious” boxes that we hope to launch this November.

KT:
