CFIA Recalls No Name Beef Burgers After Tests Reveal E.coli

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is asking people to check their freezers for a specific brand of beef burger.

Following test results by the CFIA, Loblaws has recalled No Name Brand Beef Burgers, due to the possibility of E. coli O157:H7 contamination.

Food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps and watery to bloody diarrhea. In severe cases of illness, some people may have seizures or strokes, need blood transfusions and kidney dialysis or live with permanent kidney damage. In severe cases of illness, people may die.

No Name products are a generic brand sold at Loblaws markets, including Zehrs, Great Canadian Superstore, and others.

The affected products bear the code: BEST BEFORE 2026 MA 05 B13 BMP EST 112

To date, no illnesses have been reported due to the consumption of this product. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to additional recalls.

What you should do

  • If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider
  • Check to see if you have recalled products
  • Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products
  • Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased
