Local student creativity is on display at the Kingsville Public Library, where artwork by Grade 10, 11 and 12 students from Erie Migration District Secondary School is being showcased through the end of February.
The exhibit features selected final projects from senior art students and offers the public a glimpse into the range of skills, themes and creative exploration happening in the school’s art program.
The displayed pieces were chosen by the school’s art teacher, Megan Simon, who also graded the submissions. The selected works for exhibition are presented with student permission.
For Grade 10 students, the final project represents 30 per cent of their overall course mark, while Grade 11 and 12 students’ projects account for 20 per cent, with these senior students also completing an art history exam worth an additional 10 per cent of their mark.
Each grade level approached the final project with a distinct focus tied closely to curriculum goals. Grade 10 students explored art history, interpreting historical movements and styles through their work. Grade 11 students examined art-related careers, reflecting on creative pathways and professional applications of art. Grade 12 students completed independent works, showcasing the techniques and artistic growth they have developed throughout the semester.
The school’s art department, known as Coyote Arts, continues to foster a supportive and exploratory environment for young artists. Their work and activities can also be followed on Instagram at @coyote_arts.
The exhibition highlights not only technical skill, but also the confidence and personal expression students develop through visual arts education.
Community members are encouraged to stop by the Kingsville Public Library before the end of the month to support our local youth and experience the talent emerging from Kingsville classrooms.
The Kingsville Public Library is located at 40 Main Street West.
