On February 3, 2025, shortly after 3:50 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Lakeshore Detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 77 in Comber.
The driver was transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger was treated at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male citizen of Alberta, was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Assault with intent to resist arrest
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 19, 2025, in the City of Windsor.
Highway 77 was closed for several hours to allow for the repair of a hydro pole that was damaged during the collision. The roadway has since been reopened.
