Focusing on Drivers and Modified Vehicles That Put Others at Risk!
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in West Region along with Traffic Safety and Marine are launching the ‘Drive Smart: Keep It Safe’ campaign, aimed at tackling the urgent issue of stunt driving and illegally modified vehicles on our roadways across Southwestern Ontario from September 23, 2024, to September 29, 2024.
Stunt driving, including speeding and aggressive maneuvers, poses a significant threat to everyone on the road-drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. Every time someone engages in dangerous driving, they risk not only their own life but the lives of countless others.
Illegally modified vehicles can compromise safety through impaired visibility and handling issues. These modifications can make a vehicle unpredictable and difficult to control, leading to collisions.
In support of this campaign, the OPP will be increasing patrols and conducting modified vehicle inspections focused on identifying and addressing these dangerous behaviors. The goal is not just to enforce the law but to educate drivers about the serious consequences of their actions.
Drivers caught engaging in stunt driving or operating illegally modified vehicles can face substantial fines, points on their license, and even vehicle impoundment.
The OPP are committed to holding violators accountable and is asking the public to work together to create a culture of safety on our roads so everyone can join the OPP in promoting safe driving. Remember, the choices you make behind the wheel can impact lives, so please choose wisely and drive smart. We all share the responsibility of keeping our roads safe.
