Donate Eclipse Glasses to Astronomers Without Borders

Wondering what to do with your eclipse glasses? Here’s a solution that will make a difference for others around the world. The Essex County Library and Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary are collecting these types of glasses for the non-profit Astronomers Without Borders.

Astronomers Without Borders has been recycling gently-used solar eclipse glasses for underserved communities and schools to be used during future solar eclipses since 2008. After an eclipse in 2017, AWB collected and redistributed hundreds of thousands of pairs to schools in Africa, Asia and South America that would be in the path of solar eclipses since that time.

Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary is a local collection hub. If you want to donate your glasses you can take them right out to the sanctuary or drop them off at any Essex County Library branch by Wednesday, April 17. All glasses brought in to the libraries will be taken to the sanctuary, then sent on to AWB.
