On March 20, 2024, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Lakeshore detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision near Old Tecumseh Road, Community of Puce, Municipality of Lakeshore.

Members of Lakeshore OPP, Lakeshore Fire Rescue and Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the Via railway tracks between Old Tecumseh Road and Puce Road.

Investigation determined that a pedestrian was struck by a train and pronounced deceased at the scene.

There was a police presence in the area however no roads were closed for the investigation.

Lakeshore OPP, Vial Rail Police and the Office of the Chief Coroner continue to investigate.
