St. John de Brebeuf and Companions Parish would like to express its gratitude for the two generous donations that have been received allowing much-needed renovations to the spire of the Church to continue.

The Lewis Family and Knights of Columbus Council #8233 – Columbus Center Corporation have both made generous donations to continue work for the face of the Church.

As fundraising and renovations continue, we are grateful to everyone who has supported our project to preserve our Church building and to make a difference to the beauty of the Church in our community.

St John de Brebeuf and Companions Catholic Church has been a cornerstone of Kingsville’s community since it was first opened (as a full church) in 1946.

Through the many decades a few changes and repairs and minor clean-ups have been completed, but there has been continuing deterioration of the exterior structure.

In 2012 we commissioned an engineering and architectural study and evaluation of the condition of the entire church.  A condition report was presented in 2016 by the architect with recommendations on structural elements, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and grounds repairs.

At that time the cost estimate was several million dollars to complete all of the work. Fundraising efforts began in 2017.

Post covid and coupled with the 2020’s new inflation rates, the actual costs are much higher now which is requiring us to proceed in phases of repairs as funding becomes available.

Work completed up to now includes replacement of all the HVAC systems and restoration of the stained-glass windows over the past five years. A very valued improvement was the replacement of our old organ.

The current phase which will restore the tower and steeple began in October 2022 and will be completed by end of August 2023.

Subsequent future phases will be undertaken to restore front and side entrances, windows, and interior. It will be several more years to complete all the required projects, but we are confident that our church will be here for many more decades to come.
