Automotive parts manufacturer, Magna International, announced it will invest $6 million in its Windsor mechatronics plant as part of a wide-ranging $470-million package to expand its Ontario operations and add more than 1,000 jobs across the province. The company will use its existing Twin Oaks Drive facility in east Windsor for the new production.
The Magna investment builds on the manufacturing transformation and diversification taking place in the Windsor-Essex region. These types of investments serve as an attraction for other companies considering locating in North America, which is forecast to be the fastest growing electric battery market in the world in 2023.This is a game-changing investment by Magna that will create hundreds of new jobs across the province while further strengthening Ontario’s end-to-end automotive supply chain.
Our Investment Attraction team has been working with Magna International on their Windsor expansion since February 2022. The team has provided support to the company by identifying available government funding streams including the City of Windsor’s Community Improvement Program (CIP), the Southwestern Development Fund from the Province of Ontario and other training related incentives.
