At the Leamington Council meeting held May 9, 2023, Council:

• Held a Court of Revision under the Drainage Act and:
  • Confirmed the Schedule of Assessment outlined in the Addendum Assessment Schedule dated April 10, 2023, to provide for new bridges and an updated Assessment Schedule over the B & C Concession Road Drain West.
• Held a Public Meeting under the Planning Act and:
  • Deferred Consent Application B-02-23 and Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA) No. 273 to allow for further consultation with ERCA and Administration to establish the level of evaluation necessary to determine the extent of the floodway and natural hazard associated with the Beacom Drain located along Highway 77 and Mersea Road 5.
• Approved Alissa Enns, the second winner of the Reinvent This Space program, to establish her new business outside the Community Improvement Program boundary area within the Municipality of Leamington and be eligible for the program prize of $15,000 to cover 12 months rent.

• Approved the recommended allocation of funding from the Municipal Grants Review Committee with the addition of a $3,500 grant for Hogs for Hospice.

• Approved the installation of an all-way stop control at the intersection of Sturgeon Meadows Avenue and Beniuk Court.

• Awarded Rudak Excavating with the Bridge 37 Reconstruction Project for the bridge located on Deer Run Road, approximately 0.25 km north of Mersea Road 2.

• Appointed Councillor Tiessen to act as an alternate member of Essex County Council when the Mayor or Deputy Mayor are unable to attend a meeting of the County Council for any reason.

• Approved designation of host municipality by collecting the Dedicated Gas Tax Funds for Public Transportation Program funds on behalf of the Municipality of Leamington and the Town of Kingsville.
