Women’s Enterprise Skills Training of Windsor Inc. (WEST) is hosting a week of Trades Exploration Workshops for women in partnership with UNIFOR Local 444 to provide exposure and support women enter the Skilled Trades.
This year, WEST has marked the milestone of helping 260 women gain technical skills and the empowerment to pursue careers in the Skilled Trades through its training programs. WEST is currently recruiting new participants to join the Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program, the Construction and Craft Trades Program, and the CNC/Industrial Mechanic Millwright Pre-Apprenticeship Program for women.
The Trades Exploration Workshops will help prospective participants make an informed decision before getting accepted into the programs. During these sessions, participants will have the opportunity to meet other women from the Skilled Trades, participate in various hands-on activities to explore their interests, hear from industry experts, and learn about various career pathways in the skilled trades sectors.

Since 1987, Women’s Enterprise Skills Training of Windsor Inc. (WEST) has been providing women in Windsor-Essex with support and programs to aid them in enhancing skills and securing employment. Each year, WEST assists over 3000 women prepare for the labour market, and the organization continues to seek out innovative ways to empower women through training and skills enhancement programs to meet the labour market needs of local employers.
WEST Skilled Trades Programs are funded in part the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
