Kingsville Water Pollution Control Plant – Class Environmental Assessment

Notice of Commencement

The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) and the Town of Kingsville are undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to expand or upgrade the Kingsville Wastewater Collection and Treatment System (wastewater system). The study will follow the Schedule C Municipal Class EA process as set out by the Municipal Engineers Association.

The Town’s wastewater system services the Town of Kingsville and the community of Ruthven. The system consists of the Lakeshore West Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) and the Kingsville Lagoons (see Figure 1).

This Class EA will identify and evaluate alternative solutions and designs to expand and upgrade the wastewater system. Upgrades/expansions are required to meet future servicing needs in a sustainable manner. The evaluation of alternatives will consider environmental, social, technical and financial impacts and benefits to the Town and all stakeholders.

Public consultation is critical to the success of the study. We welcome your comments and will provide opportunities for your input throughout the study. There will be a Public Information Centre (PIC) scheduled to share information, obtain your input and respond to questions. Further details on the upcoming PIC will be provided as the project progresses.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of the project team members listed below:

Information will be collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record.
