Significant progress has been made on the first phase of major improvements to the County Road 42 corridor between County Road 19 (Manning Road) and the City of Windsor.
Phase 1 construction has concluded for the winter with the following work completed:
- Temporary widening of the roadway;
- Creation of temporary sidewalks;
- Relocation of water lines and fire hydrants;
- Construction of temporary drainage infrastructure;
- Installation of a new main sanitary sewer line and connections;
- Installation of a storm sewer, connections and an outlet at Pike Creek;
- Erection of poles for temporary traffic signals at Lesperance Road;
- Placement of temporary asphalt on road shoulders; and
- Clean up and demobilization for the winter shutdown.
Work on Phase 1 of the County Road 42 corridor reconstruction will resume in the spring, with more detailed updates to be provided closer to the recommencement of construction.
The work for Phase 1 construction between Concession 11 and Pike Creek will allow for the creation of two roundabouts, roadway widening of County Road 42 and re-alignment of County Road 43, all of which will take place during future phases.
