I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. As a child, I exhibited a unique artistic ability. I am a self-taught artist. Throughout my life, I have experimented with a wide variety of mediums.
While living in the scenic hills of Caledon, Ontario, I came to know first hand the beauty of nature in my daily exposure as Director of Public Works for 33 years at the Town of Caledon.
My background in engineering lends itself well to the creation of the detail in my landscape and nature drawings. It was in Caledon that the demand for my commissioned drawings increased.
In 2009, my wife Madonna and I relocated from Newfoundland to Kingsville where I continued my hobby of drawing and carving. My pencil drawings capture the fine details intrinsic to nature including birds, flora and fauna.
My ideas come from a variety of sources including magazines, memory and pictures, but these are only used as a guide. Each of my drawings is a compilation of what I have experienced in real life, as well as my conceptualizations.
I have received several ribbons for my carvings at carving events.
Since the early days, I have introduced mixed media to my creations. Clouds are my specialty and to make them even more realistic, I use lead powder, utilizing tissue paper and cotton for applicators. This gives extra depth and contrast to my work.
I have been a member of the Art Society of Kingsville for a number of years.
