Frank Vlasschaert
On November 4, 2022, at the age of 89 years, Frank Joseph Vlasschaert passed away at Blenheim Community Village. He left this earth to be with loved ones who have gone before him.
Frank was born in Morpeth on June 26, 1933, son of the late Edmund and Helena (Gerry) Vlasschaert. Frank is survived by his wife of 44 years, Brenda (Nicholson), children Paul (Bonnie), Terry Godbout (Norm), Carol Maier (Nick), Dan (Jocelyn), Peter (Wendy), daughter-in-law Marion Briggs; his stepchildren Cyndy Jeffery (Paul), Lisa Shoopman (Mark Zayne) and Todd Solarik (Suzanne), and will be missed forever by his beloved cat “Callie.”
Frank also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Dr. Janet McElhaney, his siblings Austin, Angela DeBruyn and Loretta Rusal and the mother of his children Millicent Warren.
Frank was a long-time employee of W.G. Thompson & Sons Ltd. in Blenheim, working there for 37 years. He retired as Branch Manager in 1998. Frank had a lifelong passion for sailing and loved nothing more than to cast off and sheet in/sheet out. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for several years obtaining the 4th degree.
Frank loved to socialize, playing cards with Kingsville Knight of Columbus friends, and volunteering at various fundraisers. Rest in Peace Frank, and may you always hear the angels playing polka music.
Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Alley, Blenheim ON, on Thursday, November 10th from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm.
A service will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus at 12:45pm with the funeral mass to follow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank can be made to the Windsor Humane Society or Chatham Kent Hospice.
The service will be lived streamed through this website at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday November 10th, 2022.
