Doors Open Windsor Offers Peek Into Architectural Heritage

Calling all history, architecture and heritage enthusiasts!

Be sure to mark this coming weekend, Saturday September 24 and Sunday September 25, on your calendar to take advantage of Doors Open Windsor.  This is the weekend when the city opens the doors to places that are usually not available for public tours.  This year’s Doors Open Windsor features buildings from Old Sandwich Town to Olde Walkerville and everything in between.

This is your chance to discover and experience Windsor’s history as told by the people and places in the 30 sites that will be featured with this year’s event.

There is so much to see and it’s all free!

St. Clair College architectural technology students will be leading the walking tours of the historic neighbourhoods of Sandwich and Walkerville, while volunteers from the local chapter of Ontario Ancestors will be positioned at the Windsor Grove Cemetery to answer questions about their work which involves caring for and documenting the monuments.

The full list of buildings open for this tour is available at doorsopenwindsor.com.  While some buildings will be available for viewing on both days, some will only be open on Saturday and some only on Sunday so you may want to check the list soon!
