(ESSEX, ON) -On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Essex Detachment and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on a property near Dunn Road in the community of Colchester, Town of Essex, Ontario.

It was determined that a group of young people were riding off-road vehicles together when a 12-year-old female, who was part of their group, was struck by an ATV on a commonly used trail on a property in Colchester.

The female suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EMS.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident, Management and Enforcement (TIME) team Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) are assisting Essex OPP with the investigation.

The investigation is continuing and updates will be provided when they become available.
