The Rogers network outage that began on Friday, July 8, 2022 had been corrected in large part by Saturday, July 9. But not entirely. Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri said on Saturday that less than 1 % of customers were still having issues.
He said the outage had been due to a maintenance update. Some of the systems routers had been shut down.
CRTC spokeswoman Patricia Valladao said that the CRTC has been in contact with Rogers.
“Right now, our focus is on the outage and recovering from it, when it is over, we will take all necessary actions to examine what occurred and put in place the necessary measures to prevent it from happening again,” said Valladao.
Rogers has warned customers about a text message scam pretending to be from Rogers. The network says it will credit its customers for lost service, with no action required on the part of the customer.
Any customers who receive an SMS are asked to forward that information to 7726 (SPAM).
