What a fantastic day at Lakeside Park! It was great to have the Highland Games back in town.
We witnessed a huge outpouring of support by the community who attended our event.
There were lots of activities to see and do all day at the park.
These activities included the 5K Kilt Walk and Run, a piping competition, and the Mayors’ Haggis Hurl.
There was a band competition, and tug of war for kids and grownups.
We had some muscle-straining events and dance competitions. There was even some sheep herding!
The mighty bands that filled the grounds were an impressive sight.
The sound of their music filled the air and stirred the blood.
We enjoyed some skillful demonstrations of Irish and Scottish dance.
How those dancers could move!
Food and merchandise vendors provided great sources of satisfaction to the day.
They offered food for the hungry and mementos that will bring a smile long after the Games are over.
Special thanks to Dr. Amanda Everaert and her volunteers for the smooth operation of the 5K Kilt Walk and Run.
One hundred people registered for the event!
Despite the heat and shad (fish) flies everyone completed the course.
Top Males:
Scott Moore, Christopher Greig and Richard Kachler.
Top Females:
Andrea Docherty, Abigail Ripley and Marcia Roberts.
Congratulations to all the participants and thanks to our local sponsors!
The evening concluded with a concert with everyone’s favourite musicians — Mudmen, Steel City Rovers and Todd Porter.
We appreciate all our local sponsors who helped make this day possible.
Chair Doug Plumb and his Kingsville Highland Games Committee did an outstanding job.
