WECHS Veterinary Clinic Completes 50,000th Surgery!

Windsor – After 10 years, the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is pleased to announce that the 50,000th public spay/neuter surgery was performed today, March 12, 2022. The WECHS Veterinary Clinic opened in 2011 to increase access to spay/neuter in our community.  The clinic is open to anyone, with no geographic or income limitations.

Instead of taking a step back to celebrate this milestone in its operation, the WECHS is already planning for the next 50,000. With the support of an anonymous donor, the WECHS has launched a “Spay it Forward” fundraiser.

In an effort to reduce the number of homeless cats in the community, every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 for the month of March 2021.

These funds will go to support the WECHS community cat package, and subsidize feral cat spays and neuters. Please visit www.windsorhumane.org/donatenow to donate online.

The milestone 50,000th public animal to be spayed or neutered at the clinic was a female cat named Cheddar.
