On February 19, 2022 Kingsville Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on County Road 20 West. By the time crews arrived, flames fully engulfed the home, but the sole occupant was safely outside, having heard the smoke alarm.

A quick visual of the house’s interior showed the fire was involved in the attic area, indicating the immediate collapse of the roof above. If not for working smoke alarms, the occupant would have no warning of the impending danger above.

Please make sure you check your smoke alarm. They do save lives.
