Looking for Something Fun To Do? Mark December 11 On Your Calendar

Kingsville residents are going to be busy on Saturday, December 11th!

The Toys 4 Tots “Fill a Fire Truck” event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Red Apple at 33 Division Street North. Santa will make an appearance from  10 a.m. to noon. If you have toys to donate, please drop them off, unwrapped and in their original packaging. Please do not include stuffed animals due to COVID and allergies.

All donations will be passed along to the Leamington and Area Toys 4 Tots who will distribute the donations to less fortunate children in our area at Christmas.

At Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre at 28 Division Street South, today is the final day to help decorate the Christmas tree. Please maintain social distancing. If you prefer, you can leave your decorations at the Carnegie Centre and the Parks and Recreation or Kingsville Fire and Rescue staff will place your ornament on the tree on your behalf.

We’ll need the trusty ladder to help reach the top half of our wildlife tree. Please bring “animal-friendly” ornaments, if possible. You can even make strings of popcorn to wrap around the tree. Get creative!!

Coca-Cola Canada Bottling is hosting its first ever cross country Holiday Truck Tour to deliver magic and create a movement of togetherness and holiday spirit. Why not visit Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. where you can take photos of the Holiday Truck and Santa?

Between December 10 and December 12, Ken Knapp Ford is hosting the 27th Jingle Bell Run in support of Community Living Essex County, a not-for-profit organization providing support and services for over 750 children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. This year’s run is virtual. Participants can walk, wheel, or run the 2K, 5K or 10K routes. Don’t forget to wear your Christmas gear!

Interested participants can register online at www.RaceRoster.com and pick up a race kit at Ken Knapp Ford. The race kit includes a blanket, touch screen gloves, vehicle ice scraper and medal.

Hop on The Kingsville Express Train from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until January 4. Circle around the upper bowl of Lakeside Park to see the magnificent Fantasy of Lights display while sipping hot chocolate! Pay the conductor $2 per person or $5 per family of 4. Children under 2 ride for free.

Please follow all guidelines and markers on-site to ensure social distancing, and wear a mask.

Unfortunately, due to the new WECHU’s recent letter of instruction limiting indoor gatherings, the crafts and photos with Santa at Lakeside Pavilion has been postponed.

Still there’s plenty to do this weekend. Stay safe and don’t miss out on these fun and exciting holiday activities.
