OPP Investigate Fatal Head On Collision

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On Sunday November 7, 2021, at approximately 6:50 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Leamington Detachment, Leamington Fire Services and Essex-Windsor EMS responded to a collision involving two motor vehicles on Highway 77 between Mersea Road 5 and Mersea Road 6, in the Municipality of Leamington.

The passenger of one of the motor vehicles, Katherina FEHR, age 72, was pronounced deceased at scene. The driver of the same vehicle, Johan FEHR, age 76, was pronounced deceased after being transported to hospital.

The driver of the second motor vehicle involved was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It was determined that one motor vehicle was northbound and the second motor vehicle was southbound on Highway 77 when both collided head-on.

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team and Leamington OPP are continuing to investigate, any further updates will be provided when they become available.
