Town of Kingsville Honours National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is tomorrow, September 30, 2021. This day commemorates the survivors and victims of residential schools, their families and communities. Kingsville encourages you to help spread a wave of orange across our Town. Wear an orange shirt, tie orange ribbons around your trees, and light your home with orange lights. We will have an ‘Every Child Matters’ flag at half-mast on September 30, 2021, and activities at Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre alongside the Arts Society of Kingsville and Local Indigenous craftsmen.

Join us from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm to see a Ceremonial Smudging, a Ritual Drumming and Indigenous Art. Drop off a pair of children’s shoes to symbolize each child lost during the tragic legacy of Canada’s residential school system. Learn more about Indigenous history and how we can all take steps towards reconciliation with an Education series from The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. (Each video will be available on YouTube following its release date).
