First Community Ride in Kingsville Sees Great Turnout

Bike Kingsville Community Rides kicked off Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 9:00 am with a bike clinic, opening speeches and the first community ride of the summer. This initiative is a partnership with Bike Windsor-Essex, a member-based advocacy group representing all bike lovers in Windsor and Essex County that encourages people to get out and explore our region by bike.

“We look forward to great partnerships, bringing more people in from the tourist side, certainly the cycling fanatics, the movement, the motion,” said Mayor Nelson Santos. ” We see our Town’s Carnegie Parquette as the starting point and connecting point for everybody to come together.”

Justin Lafontaine is the resident credited with bringing community rides to the Town. In his opening remarks, Lafontaine said, “[Kingsville has] a climate and topography that is unmatched from a cycling perspective.” Kingsville Cycle Works provided free bike checks and Lee & Maria’s gave apples to all who attended.

Community rides will continue to occur on the second Saturday of each month along Kingsville’s designated CWATS cycling routes. Rides leave from the Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre, 28 Division Street South at 10:00 am. Participation is free.

Anyone biking this summer is encouraged to take a photo and post to social media with the hashtag #BikeKingsville to be entered into a draw for a free night stay at the Grove Hotel and an ebike rental.
