Kingsville Declares ‘Significant Weather Event’ February 18-20

Due to the substantial amount of snow received during Tuesday’s winter storm and the potential for more accumulation tonight, the Town of Kingsville has declared a “Significant Weather Event” for the next 48 hours. This is effective today at 4pm and will continue until Saturday February 20, 2021, at 4pm.

During a “Significant Weather Event” the Town has additional time, under provincial regulation, to clear snow and ice from roads and sidewalks. The Town has deployed all resources available to it and will complete the clearing as soon as possible. Clearing snow and ice from sidewalks is taking longer than usual due to the accumulation received.

“Plow operators cannot simply plow and push the snow because there is nowhere for it to go,” said Town of Kingsville’s Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Andrew Plancke. “Staff are taking additional time to transfer snow from streets, parking lots, and sidewalks to areas unimpeded by vehicular and foot traffic.”

During this time motorists and pedestrians should travel in accordance to road and sidewalk conditions. The public is asked not to park on Town streets during plowing activities and refrain from depositing snow on Town roadways or sidewalks.

  1. Looking for an article on February 18 about an air show many years ago over a field near Hwy 50. Thanks
