Greater Essex County District School Board Announces Online Schooling Begins January 4, 2021

JAN. 4 RETURN TO SCHOOL UPDATE
As we enter the new year teaching and learning for GECDSB students will resume on January 4, 2021, however things will be different.

While school boards have been directed to have all students participate in remote learning from January 4 – 8 (elementary) and January 4 – 22 (secondary), we are required to provide in-person support for students with complex special education needs, especially when accommodations cannot be met during remote learning.

For those students in our elementary GAINS classrooms and our secondary STEPS classrooms, the GECDSB will provide in-person learning as an option for those students who are presently registered for in-person learning. These two programs will be offered in school beginning on January 4th.

Each family will be contacted by school personnel to determine the family’s preference of learning. Students will continue to have access to transportation to and from school when they attend in-person.

GAINS/STEPS classrooms will begin at the normal time Monday morning and conclude at the school’s usual dismissal time.

School administrators and support staff will be in each school on January 4th and maintain their usual operating schedules.
