Town of Kingsville Responds to Extended Provincial Lockdown

Premier Doug Ford has announced a province-wide lockdown to address the Covid-19 health crisis in Ontario. This extended provincial lockdown emphasizes the critical importance of adhering to the rules and restrictions in place to protect our community and relieve stress from our increasingly stressed health care system. This lockdown and closure of non-essential businesses and services will be in place for at least 28 days beginning on December 26, 2020.

“This is a critical time for reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our town and across our region,” said Mayor Nelson Santos. “Kingsville is a vibrant and caring community. We urge residents to continue following the advice of our Windsor-Essex County Health Unit to help protect your neighbours, friends, loved ones, and our courageous frontline and health care professionals. Please stay safe. Please stay home.”

“Town employees will maintain all essential services, such as roads, fire, and water services, during this lockdown,” said John Norton, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Kingsville. “My highest priority right now is the health of our employees so that we can continue providing these essential services to our community.”

The following services are affected during the period of this lockdown:

1.       Town Hall

The Town Hall is closed to the public. Staff are still working and able to provide answers by telephone and virtual meetings. Building Inspections, Planning Services, and Bylaw Enforcement continue, as well as tax payments, and marriage licenses. Please call 519-733-2305 during regular business hours.

When absolutely necessary, Town employees will hold in person meetings but only when virtual meetings are insufficient.

2.       Roads, Sewers and Water

The Town Hall is closed to the public but staff are working to maintain our roads, sewers and water supply. If you have a service request, please submit it through our KingsvilleWorks system at www.kingsville.ca/reportit. You can also call us at 519-733-2305 during regular office hours.

For an after-hours hydro-electric emergency, please call 519-776-5291.

For an after-hours water emergency, please 519-326-4447.

3.       Fire Department

In an emergency, please call 911. The Fire Department is still responding to emergencies.

The Fire Department office is closed to the public. Staff are still working and can be reached during business hours at 519-733-2314.

4.       Arena, Parks and Recreation

The Kingsville Arena and all recreation programming is closed to the public and user groups. Parks remain open to the public for walking and passive use. A small group of staff are maintaining parks and facilities, emptying garbage receptacles throughout the community, and performing routine safety inspections and maintenance requirements for each venue in the municipality.

5.       Carnegie Arts & Culture Centre, Grovedale Arts & Culture Centre, Lakeside Park Pavilion, Unico Community Centre

These facilities are closed.

THANKFUL TO OUR EMPLOYEES

“We thank all of our employees for their incredible efforts over this past year. They have come to work every day, making themselves vulnerable while doing their service to the community during a very trying year,” said Norton.
