Off the Shelf: Native Seed Collecting and Kingsville!

Native Seed Collecting

A local Kingsville resident heard that the Essex County Library had a seed library and that we would accept seed donations. What a surprise when she came in with hundreds of seed packets! All locally grown and collected by avid gardeners we happily accepted them! We’ve been notified that there are new additions to this collection. We should have them available in the library this October.

Meet Your Team

Laurie joined the Kingsville team as a Resource Assistant three years ago after spending over ten years at the Leamington branch.

She grew up in Clarkson, ON which is now part of Mississauga. One of her neighbours was the famous Canadian, Mazo de la Roche, author of the Jalna series.

After attaining an Honours BA in Communication Disorders and continuing with graduate studies from what is now the University of Central Florida in Orlando, she worked for years with students having speech and language disorders with the Peel Board of Education.

Married and starting a family, Laurie moved from Mississauga to Oakville, London, and Guelph before finally settling in Kingsville almost 30 years ago.

Laurie loves the library and serving all her patrons, from babies to seniors and everyone in between.  She is really missing her patrons.

Outside of the library, she enjoys time with her family, grandkids, her garden and good friends.  Formerly a tea addict, coffee is now her drink of choice.

Laurie just finished reading “The Winemaker’s Wife” by Kristin Harmel, and is eagerly looking forward to her next read “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett.

She can’t wait to show off the newly organized and clean Kingsville branch. Staff hopes to see you soon!
