Ontario Invests Over $1 Million To Expand CT Scan Capacity At WRH

The Ontario government is investing $1.08 million to expand Computed Tomography (CT) scan hours at Windsor Regional Hospital during the 2025–2026 fiscal year. This funding will allow Windsor Regional Hospital to increase CT scan availability, including extended hours, helping reduce wait times and support faster diagnoses for patients across the region.

“Access to timely diagnostic imaging is essential to delivering high-quality patient care,” said Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor–Tecumseh. “By strengthening local hospital capacity, our government is ensuring families in Windsor–Essex receive the care they need, when they need it.”

The investment in Windsor is part of a province-wide commitment of up to $81 million in one-time funding to support 324,000 additional CT scan hours at 86 hospitals across Ontario.

“Windsor Regional Hospital is grateful for the province’s continued investment in diagnostic imaging,” said Nicole Krywionek, Chief Nursing Executive and VP of Diagnostic Imaging, Windsor Regional Hospital. “Our teams have been working hard to meet the growing needs of our community, and this funding helps sustain extended CT hours. We remain committed to ensuring patients across Windsor–Essex continue to receive timely access to high‑quality CT services.”

By expanding CT capacity, Ontario continues to take action to strengthen the health care system, reduce diagnostic backlogs and improve patient outcomes while easing pressures on emergency departments and hospital services.
