The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is celebrating the holiday season with its annual 12 Days of Christmas Adoption Promotion, running from December 12 to 23.
Each day of the campaign will feature a different adoption special, with heavily discounted or even waived fees to help find loving homes for as many animals as possible before the holidays.
This festive initiative is designed to ease overcrowding at the shelter, give animals the gift of a warm home for the holidays, and make pet adoption more accessible for families across the region.
Dogs, cats and small animals will all be included throughout the 12-day event.
“This time of year is about kindness and connection” says Lynnette Bain, Executive Director of the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society. “We encourage the community to join us in making the season brighter for pets in need to help find their new families and spend their holidays in a loving home.”
The Humane Society also reminds the community that pets are not gifts. Animals should never be adopted spontaneously or given to someone who has not been involved in the decision.
“While we love seeing animals go home for the holidays, it’s important to remember that adopting a pet is a big commitment,” added Bain. “We encourage families to come in together, meet the animals, and make thoughtful, informed decisions.”
All dogs, cats and rabbits adopted during the event will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to begin their new lives.
The daily promotion schedule will be shared on the Humane Society’s website and social media channels. Community members are encouraged to visit windsorhumane.org for details or stop by the shelter to meet their potential new family member.
