Update to School Property Project on Have Your Say Kingsville

The Town of Kingsville has provided new updates for its “Future of the School Properties” project on its citizen engagement portal, HaveYourSayKingsville.ca, including property appraisal reports for 170 Main Street East and 36 Water Street, a ‘Mayor’s Vision’ Presentation from the September 16, 2024 Committee of the Whole meeting, and a brief status update on Kingsville’s Minister of Education meeting at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in August.

Residents are welcome to revisit the project page, review the new details, and participate in the public forum connected to the project page.

Future of School Properties

Project Background

    • With the opening of the new school, the school board will likely sell the three former school properties in Town.
    • Once listed, Council will need to decide whether or not to buy one or more of the properties.
    • Can we afford to purchase one or more of these properties? It might be expensive.
    • Can we afford not to purchase one or more of these properties? The community would have little or no control over the property’s future.
    • Town Administration held a Public Information Meeting on July 28, 2024, to present an overview of what we know and still must learn. The presentation is available on the Town’s citizen engagement portal at HaveYourSayKingsville.ca. Residents are encouraged to review the materials and use the open forum connected to the project page to ask questions and express their opinions before the Council makes final decisions.
