Highlights from the August 8 Town Council Meeting

COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

At the August 8, 2022, Council meeting, Council:

• Unanimously supported the Union Water Supply System’s restructuring through incorporation, allowing the UWSS to apply for grant funding independent from the Municipality and preventing “rate shock” for users. The Municipality owns a percentage of the corporation.

• Approved a Comprehensive Transportation Master Plan.

• Approved restoration of the Range Light at Mettawas park using modern materials, making every effort to mimic the original structure.

• Directed Administration to apply for a grant that would cover 50% of the cost of Electric Vehicle Charging stations at the Unico and Kingsville Arena.

• Agreed to leave the Mayor’s Office vacant for the remainder of this election term. Deputy Mayor Gord Queen assumes the role of Acting Mayor until the new Mayor is elected.

• Received the annual report from the Integrity Commissioner.

• Requested Administration work with the Province to fund a Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in Kingsville.
