Kingsville High School Reports COVID-19 Case

A student at Kingsville District High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The school is open on Monday, Sept. 21, and all students and staff who were exposed have been contacted by school administration, according to the KDHS website.

The Greater Essex County District School Board has confirmed that a student has tested positive, and notified KDHS parents with a letter on Sunday. The GECDSB has also posted the case on its website.

“We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual,” Principal Bill Toews wrote to parents.

“Both the vice-principal and I personally contacted any individuals (students and staff) who have an identified high-risk exposure with the confirmed case. If you have not been contacted, you or your child (ren) have not been identified as close contacts.”

Parents and students should monitor for COVID-19 symptoms every morning. If they feel ill is they should stay home and call their healthcare provider.

This is the GECDSB’s first COIVD-19 case but it is the third school case in Windsor-Essex. Amherstburg’s Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School and Tecumseh’s l’Essor High School have also reported cases.
