This week, the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority announced toll rates and with Bridging North America, launched Breakaway, the toll discount program, for the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
Breakaway is a pass to seamless crossing at the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Drivers can receive up to 20% off tolls with the flexible account options designed to meet their specific needs.
Members enrolled in the Breakaway program will enjoy:

- free tags
- consolidated billing
- hassle-free travel
- faster processing
- customer care
Vehicles equipped with Breakaway tags can use any open toll lane, the gate will lift within seconds, and charges will be attributed to your account.
Gordie Howe International Bridge toll rates balance affordability and the modern amenities travellers will enjoy when crossing between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan.
Pricing is based on passenger and commercial vehicle classifications, the number of axles and vehicle height.
Designed to offer tailored pricing and savings through Breakaway, every traveller will have an opportunity to cross quickly, confidently and cost-effectively.
Rates are available in Canadian and US dollars offering convenience and flexibility for drivers.

Breakaway registration is now open for businesses. Over the coming weeks, Breakaway account registration will be expanded to include personal account registration, ensuring all travellers can take advantage of discounted rates and a fast and easy experience through the tolling area.
Businesses
Opening a Breakaway Business Account is easy and free. Here’s what you’ll need:
- name, address and contact details
- vehicle information – year, colour, make, model and licence plate
- an initial $150 deposit through credit or debit
- selection of Breakaway tag type.
You will receive your Breakaway tags in the mail following registration. Install the tags on your fleet and activate them through your online account. You are now ready to Breakaway with the Gordie Howe International Bridge!
