Barbara Elaine Sunderland (nee Gibb)
October 24, 1934 ~ January 4, 2026

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Barbara Sunderland (nee Gibb) on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Erie Shores Healthcare at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of Neil Sunderland for 67 wonderful years. Loving mother of Jeff, Tim (Sandy), Mike (Teresa) and the late Laura (2002).

Dear Grandmother of Corin (Freddy) Menjivar, Josh (Laura) Sunderland, Kelsey (Christopher) Peters, Michelle Sunderland, Drake Sunderland, Austin Sunderland, Dillon Sunderland and Connor Sunderland; Great-Grandma of Norah, Mathew, Vivianne and Linda Peters, Tenley and Cruz Menjivar.

Barbara was born in Amherstburg, ON to her parents, the late Noble and Dorthy Gibb (nee Wigle). Sister of Doug (2000) (Fran) Gibb, Ron (2022) (Pam) Gibb, Donna (Wayne) Crawford and Carl Gibb. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Barbara started her work career in an insurance office. As time passed, she and Neil started their young family and she decided to stay home to help care for their little ones. As the children got older, Barbara was able to step into other roles– working side-by-side with Neil at the Shell Gas Station in Kingsville for over 20 years along with any other places she could help out.

She eventually settled into the position of church secretary at St. John de Brebeuf Catholic Church in Kingsville. Above all jobs, being a wife, mother and grandmother were her favorite; often being thought of as the “rock of the family” as she brought them together and taught them about faith, hope and love.

In following Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place in the spring at Greenhill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Kendrick Funeral Home, Kingsville.
