Leamington Council Matters – December 9, 2025

At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Council: 

  • Approved an amendment to Leamington’s Zoning By-law with regard to 918 Point Pelee Drive. The property currently has three cottages (918, 920, and 922 Point Pelee Drive), and the amendment split the property into three separate lots, each with its own title and tax roll number. 
  • Approved the 2025 Road Resurfacing Tender Results and awarded the contract to Shepley Road Maintenance for an amount of $607,331 (Plus HST). 
  • Approved the Water Department Policy on Water Supply for Greenhouse Operations and Repealed Policy on Existing Greenhouses.
  • Approved new taxi fares. Administration will bring forward an amended Taxicab by-law for Council’s consideration in early 2026 and ensure that there is advance notice and the new fares are communicated to the public. 
  • Authorized the Renewal of the Agreement with the Township of Pelee Island for the joint enforcement of the Building Code Act for a period of 2 years. 
  • Amended a by-law correcting a previously enacted by-law to accurately reference properties in the Southwind Estates Subdivision. 
  • Approved the 2026 Interim Tax Levy By-law. 
  • Approved a 3-year contract extension for janitorial services with M&S Janitorial Services Ltd. 
  • Approved a Development Control Agreement with 2743331 Ontario Inc. to proceed with Phase 3 of the Golfwood Lakes Subdivision to create 23 single detached residential units as well as 15 Townhouse Blocks, creating 60 residential units.
