Town Council Brief from the November 17, 2025 Meeting

At its November 17, 2025 meeting, Council:

  • Approved the following related to Gardner Estates (Truax):
    • Approved the Subdivision Agreement containing forty-three (43) lots for single detached residential units, and sixteen (16) lots for thirty-two (32) semi-detached, or townhouse, residential units; and
    • Approved Street “A” to be known as Charles Gate Avenue, Street “B” to be known as Wigle Grove Road, and Streets” C” and “D” to be known as Madeline Avenue.
  • Approved the 2026 Fees and Charges, as amended, and adopted the corresponding By-law 68-2025 to impose fees and charges.
  • Approved the 2026 Water and Sewage Rates and adopted the corresponding By-law 69-2025 to impose water and sewage rates.
  • Approved the following related to the Essex County O.P.P. Detachment Board South:
    • Directed Administration to suspend any further expenditures related to the Essex County O.P.P. Detachment Board – South until budget allocations are resolved;
    • Supported, in principle, the correspondence received from the Township of Pelee dated November 14, 2025, regarding budget share allocations for the Essex County O.P.P. Detachment Board – South; and
    • Directed Administration to begin discussions with the Township of Pelee, Municipality of Leamington and Caldwell First Nation, respectively, with an aim to reach consensus.
  • Formally stated its opposition to the proposed consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities without knowing the full financial and operational impact to municipalities and the conservation authorities.
