Hiring efforts are focused on production technicians as Electrode and Cell production ramp up this fall
NextStar Energy (NSE) is proud to announce a significant milestone in its journey: the hiring of its 1,000th employee. This achievement reflects the company’s continued growth, commitment to local job creation, and dedication to building a workplace where talent thrives.
“I am both proud and deeply impressed by the team we’re building and the unique culture we’re cultivating here at NextStar,” said Danies Lee, Chief Executive Officer of NextStar Energy. “Windsor is home to exceptional talent and expertise, and our incredible NSE family showcases that every day.”
NextStar began hiring in 2023, ramping up recruitment efforts over the past year as operations began to take shape.
The 1000th employee, a recent graduate of St. Clair College, was hired as a Quality Inspector, and is one of 34 employees who recently began onboarding.

As an innovative new venture in Canada, NextStar Energy has developed highly specialized training programs for new employees, specifically designed for the new battery manufacturing sector.
One such program, Battery Boost, was developed in partnership with Invest WindsorEssex and Palette Skills, with funding from the Government of Canada. It is a hands-on program that uses advanced virtual reality simulations to train technicians for real-world operations.
“The training programs offered by NextStar Energy are unlike anything else in the industry,” said Ed Novacco, Director of Human Resources for NextStar Energy. “They’re immersive, hands-on programs tailored for each area of production, empowering our employees to become specialized experts in the most state-of-the-art battery manufacturing technology.”
Construction of NSE’s 4.23 million-square-foot facility is officially complete, as the company announced it received its Occupancy Permit September 30. While battery module assembly began in Fall 2024, electrode and cell production are in its sample phase, preparing to ramp up mass production in the coming months.
