On Saturday, October 11, Kingsville celebrated the opening of a new community project at Lakeside Park, made possible through the partnership between Rotary Club of Kingsville Southshore and the Town of Kingsville. What a beautiful day to enjoy rides on the Kingsville Express, hot dogs, a ribbon cutting ceremony, laughter and fun!
The project brings accessible picnic tables and colourful stenciled games to the park, offering families and visitors a welcome space to gather, play, and connect. These games encourage creativity, cooperation, problem-solving, and plenty of laughter for children and families alike.
In the words of club President Heather LeBrun, “Our Rotary Club has been raising funds for several years and we are excited to give this legacy project to our community that hopefully can be enjoyed for many generations to come.”

This project was fully funded by the Rotary Club of Kingsville Southshore. The $15,000 cheque was presented to Mayor Dennis Rogers. “This sensory pad is a unique addition to our park and opens up new possibilities for park users. It presents new ways for our residents to connect at our signature Lakeside Park,” he said.
“I want to thank the Rotary club of Kingsville-Southshore for their collaboration, investment and continued commitment to help making Kingsville a healthy, sustainable and prosperous community.’”.
The Town of Kingsville contributed painting supplies, organization and labour.

Much appreciation to Courtney Godfrey, Manager of Parks and Recreation; Deputy Mayor and club member Kim DeYong and Nancy Donaldson from the Arts Society. This would not have been possible without Shelley Moody and the student painters Morgan, Josh, Hannah, and Lauren who brought the vision to life with creativity and colour.
The dedicated committee members worked tirelessly behind the scenes for months to see this project through. It reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to building stronger, healthier communities and creating spaces where everyone can belong.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own game pieces to enjoy the tables, while anyone can dive into the fun of the stenciled games nearby. This collaboration is a wonderful example of how our community comes together to create something lasting for everyone.
Together for Better!
