Thanks to everyone who supported our local high school players throughout the tennis season! The students some of whom participated in the KTA Junior League with support of their teacher and coach, Derek Tomkins, represented Kingsville with great effort and sportsmanship — and their results speak for themselves.
At WECSSAA, nearly all our players won matches, with several advancing deep into their draws.
Megan Wuerch was a standout, winning four straight matches on Day One to advance to the finals day. There, she lost a tough tiebreaker, rebounded to defeat a strong player from Sandwich, then fell in another close tiebreaker to Essex — finishing 5th overall out of 32 players.
Cole Stanley, Adam Klassen, and Ava Poisson also competed in tough singles draws, each winning several matches and narrowly missing advancement to the finals.
In doubles, several young teams gained valuable tournament experience. Egemen Kimikli and Wes Moncur came within inches of advancing, falling in two close tiebreakers. Andrea Hunt and Julia McInnis also fought hard all day, losing 12–10 in a match tiebreaker to Villanova.

We also sent two strong senior mixed doubles teams: Daniel McInnis & Natalie Mann and Quinn Miehl-Marentette & Mady Stanley.
Both pairs advanced to the Day One final, with Mady and Quinn taking the win and the No. 1 seed into the WECSSAA Finals. Daniel and Natalie went on to finish 7th of 32 teams after a tight second-round tiebreaker loss to St. Anne’s.
Our biggest finish came from Mady Stanley and Quinn Miehl-Marentette, who went undefeated — 4–0 on Day One and 3–0 at the WECSSAA Finals.
Their semifinal comeback win over St. Anne’s sent them to the gold medal match, where they clinched WECSSAA gold and a spot at SWOSSAA.
In Chatham, they continued their winning streak at SWOSSAA, defeating CKSS 8–6, Villanova 8–3, and Pain Court 8–1 in the championship match to earn another gold medal and a ticket to OFSAA in November!
Congratulations to all the players — and thank you to KTA for your continued support of youth tennis in our community.
