Fire Prevention Week: Kingsville Fire Department Holds Open Houses Oct. 8

Fire Prevention Week is October 5 – 11, 2025. This year’s campaign is focused on how to safely buy, charge and recycle lithium-ion batteries to prevent hazards like overheating, fires and explosions.

“Charge into Fire Safety” by educating yourself on proper practices.

  1. Make sure you buy batteries with a safety certification mark from a nationally recognized testing lab
  2. Only use the charger that comes with the device, or one approved by the manufacturer
  3. Don’t overcharge! You’ll want to unplug the device once it’s fully charged
  4. Don’t throw batteries in the regular trash or recycle bins. Bring your batteries to an official Call2Recycle Battery and Cell Phone Recycling Depot, like the Town of Kingsville’s Municipal Office. Watch this video to see how easy environmentally responsible recycling can be!
