November is Radon Awareness Month!
Did you know:
- Radon is an invisible radioactive gas that can be found in elevated levels in homes across Canada.
- Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.
Testing for radon in your home is easy to do. Our short-term digital testing kits are now available. You can place a hold https://bit.ly/ECLradontestkits to reserve yours.
Important information:
- Loan period for kits is 3 weeks, no renewals.
- To avoid damaging a kit, please return in person instead of using a bookdrop.
- As per Health Canada guidelines, testing should take place during cold weather months when windows are typically kept closed. Our program typically runs for 6 months (November – April).
Detailed instructions on how to use the device as well as information about radon are in each kit.
We strongly encourage you to visit Health Canada and Windsor Essex County Health Unit for additional information.
