Adrian Van Kempen passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at 88 years old with his loving family by his side, and was reunited with his dear wife Susan of 64 years. Adoring father of Ann (Kelly), the late Joe (2025), Marybeth, Jerry, and B.J. (Michelle). Beloved Grampa of Dylan (Susan), Megan, Lexie, Madison, Ally, Ashton, and Madelyn, and Great Grampa to Elise.
Survived by his sister Tilly (late Ken), brother Hank (Jackie), and sister in law Edyth. Predeceased by his parents Johannes and Lyntje, sister Jean (Case), brother in law David, and many aunts and uncles. Fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Adrian was born in Holland on August 31, 1937 and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1948. In 1951 they moved to the home farm in Kingsville which is still the home farm today. Farming wasn’t just what Dad “Grampa” did — it was who he was. Six days a week he could be found in his fields and most recently on his golf cart tending to his many different crops.
He always found time for the many things he loved to do — bus trips with Mom, The Torres in Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica and exotic fishing trips with family and friends. His yearly pig roast was always a great party everyone looked forward to. He was a Spitfire fan holding season tickets back to “The Barn” days.
His legacy lives on in the generations who learned from his example- his children and grandchildren who carry forward his spirit of determination, gratitude and heart. His spirit remains in every sunrise over the farm and the lives of all who were lucky enough to know him.
Visitation will be held at Kendrick Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, from 3pm until 7pm.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, at 1pm, with interment to follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
