Debora “Debbie” Couture (née Deneau)

Debora “Debbie” Couture, 68, of Amherstburg, Ontario, passed away on September 23, 2025, at Erie Shores Healthcare Hospital in Leamington with her husband by her side.

Born on January 8, 1957, to Garnet and Catharine Deneau, Debbie left the farm at the age of 17 to join the Canadian Armed Forces. It was there that she met the love of her life, Réal Couture, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents and her friends Val Ivanovs and Shirley Warford, all of whom she missed dearly. She is survived by her beloved husband Réal Couture, her daughter Danielle Couture (David Seymour), her cherished family, many friends, and her faithful companions — her two cats and dog, Wooly, Spike, and Chase.

Debbie was deeply grateful for the countless healthcare workers — doctors, nurses, surgeons, physiotherapists, personal support workers, home care nurses, wound care nurses, and many others — who supported her difficult journey over the years. She rarely let her health challenges dampen her spirit.

Debbie loved nothing more than warm weather and her gardens. While summer is fading, her tomatoes continue to ripen on the vine and her flowers still bloom.

Debbie will be remembered for her resilience, warmth, and the memories she created with those she loved.

The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Erie Shores HealthCare Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Erie Shores HealthCare Hospital in Leamington or to the charity of your choice. A private memorial service will be held.
